Ashford University Students Attend State Phi Beta Lambda Conference
Ashford PBL Members Attend State Leadership Conference

 

Ten members of Ashford University’s Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) organization and two group advisors attended the 64th annual Iowa State Leadership Conference (SLC) held at Wartburg College on March 25-26. Nine colleges and universities sent chapter representatives to the conference where members participated in more than 60 events. Ashford’s PBL members competed in 14 objective tests, written reports and oral presentations.

Ashford University students who placed in an event and are eligible to attend the national leadership conference in Orlando, FL in June include:

First place: Jason Ohda, Ohio, IL, for economic analysis and decision making, financial concepts, and microeconomics; Kim Fabry, Oconto Falls, WI, for job interview; Danielle Shank, DeWitt, IA, for help desk and Danielle Shank and Stephanie Waldorf, Clinton, IA, for financial concepts;

Third place: Stacey Kelly, Clinton, IA, for business law; Sterling Graves, Clinton, IA, for macroeconomics and Xiao Yawen, Estherville, IA, for statistical analysis;

Fourth place: Danielle Shank for accounting for professionals and Corrine Torres, Dixon, IL, for human resource management;

Fifth place: Stephanie Waldorf for computer concepts; Sterling Graves for public speaking and Stephanie Waldorf for word processing.

PBL members and advisors attended workshops on Friday evening and Saturday morning. The SLC concluded with a formal banquet and an awards ceremony on Saturday evening.

PBL is a national organization for students interested in pursuing a business career; however, membership is not exclusive to business majors.
