Ashford University Will Recognize Area Educators
'Ashford Night at the Ballpark' Set for April 15

Area educators will be recognized during Ashford University’s 14th annual “Ashford Night at the Ballpark” on Friday, April 15.

The university is inviting the area’s teachers, administrators and other school staff members to be its guests at Alliant Energy Field in Clinton to watch the Clinton LumberKings face the Kane County Cougars.

“Our area’s educators are among the most talented in the nation,” said Dr. Joen Rottler Larson, campus dean of Ashford University’s College of Education. “Their dedication to their students and love of their profession is unparalleled. Yet, sometimes their talents and creativity in the classroom go unnoticed. We would like to show our appreciation for them on April 15.”

Before the baseball game, during a ceremony at 6 p.m., the university will award three full tuition scholarships to its teacher education programs – the Master of Arts in Education or the Master of Arts in Teaching and Learning with Technology. These scholarships include full program tuition, all books and a technology fee waiver.

Ashford will also present $500 for classroom materials to the area’s “Teacher of the Year” and recognize all education professionals in attendance.

To be considered for one of the scholarships or the “Teacher of the Year” award, teachers must be employed at a public or private K-12 school in the Iowa counties of Clinton, Scott or Jackson; the Illinois counties of Carroll, Whiteside or Rock Island, or any school district that has hosted Ashford University student-teacher clinical placements.

Free tickets to the April 15 event are available at area merchants, area school offices and Ashford University. The baseball game’s first pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.

Also as part of “Ashford Night at the Ballpark,” the University will host its alumni and guests in the picnic garden. Invitations have been sent to alumni.
