World War II Veteran and Prisoner of War Speaks to Ashford Audience
Distinguished U.S. Army veteran recounts military experience during World War II

Ashford University hosted a special presentation from World War II veteran Joseph Ortiz at the University’s San Diego headquarters on Tuesday, Feb. 3. More than 50 Ashford employees – many of whom work with active-duty military students on a daily basis – attended to hear Ortiz’s account of serving in the United States Army during World War II and being a prisoner of war.

Ortiz was a staff sergeant in the Army and completed seven missions. He earned a Purple Heart for his service to his nation.
