Ashford University and No Excuses University Announce Strategic Partnership
Agreement supports college readiness with innovative practices for school improvement

February 4, 2015 – Ashford University’s College of Education and No Excuses University, a network of more than 200 K-12 schools across the nation, have announced a strategic partnership to support innovative practices for school improvement.

Ashford University Provost Dr. Lori Williams and No Excuses University Founder Damen Lopez made the formal announcement at the No Excuses University San Diego conference on Monday at the DoubleTree by Hilton San Diego-Mission Valley.

Founded upon the principle that every student deserves an opportunity to be educated in a way that prepares them for college, No Excuses University primarily serves low-performing schools with at-risk student populations.

“No Excuses University’s philosophies align with Ashford University’s core values to provide accessible, high-quality higher education opportunities that meet the diverse needs of individuals looking to better themselves both personally and professionally,” Williams said. “We both strongly believe in a culture of universal achievement.”

As part of the partnership, Ashford will introduce a four-course specialization within its master’s in education degree program focused on No Excuses’ six systems for school improvement: a culture of universal achievement, collaboration, standards alignment, assessment, data management, and interventions.

Ashford will also be the exclusive national university partner within the No Excuses network of schools. Ashford will sponsor one classroom in every No Excuses school and is exploring scholarship opportunities for students and parents. In addition, Ashford will have a presence at No Excuses University conferences and institutes.
