Roya Mahboob Tapped to Be Next Speaker in Forbes School of Business Distinguished Speaker Series
Hailed as one of TIME magazine's 100 Most Influential People in the World in 2013, Mahboob will share her experiences as a female IT executive in Afghanistan
Roya Mahboob will speak at the Forbes School of Business at Ashford University Distinguished Speaker Series event in Washington, D.C.

The Forbes School of Business® at Ashford University continues its 2015 Distinguished Speaker Series with a presentation from Roya Mahboob, founder and CEO of Afghan Citadel Software Company and the CEO of Digital Citizen Fund. The event will begin with breakfast and networking at 9:00 a.m. E.D.T. on Thursday, October 22 at the Willard Conference Center, located at 1401 Pennsylvania Avenue NW, Washington, D.C., 20004. Mahboob’s presentation will follow at 10:00 a.m. E.D.T.

Mahboob has defied the odds by succeeding as a technology entrepreneur in Afghanistan, a culture where women rarely work outside of the home. She founded and serves as the CEO of the Afghan Citadel Software Company, a full-service software development company where a majority of the employees are women. In 2012, Mahboob launched the Women’s Annex, an online platform for women and girls to share their stories and earn income from their work. The following year, Mahboob was named to TIME magazine’s list of the 100 Most Influential People in the World because of her work in creating the Women’s Annex, and because of her efforts to build internet classrooms in Afghan high schools.

In her Forbes School of Business Distinguished Speaker Series presentation, Mahboob will share her remarkable journey to become a “social entrepreneur.” She will also discuss her long-term goal of bringing equal access to education to the women and girls in Afghanistan.

The Distinguished Speaker Series is a benefit for the students of the Forbes School of Business at Ashford University. Launched in 2014, the speaker series provides a forum for business experts to share their extensive business knowledge with the Ashford community.
