San Diego’s Salute to Service Festival, a family-friendly tribute to the U.S. military, will take place on the deck of the USS Midway overlooking the San Diego Harbor. Ashford University is proud to sponsor the event for the second year in a row.

“San Diego’s long-term relationship with the U.S. military makes this a great town for service members,” stated Dr. Elizabeth Tice, Ashford University’s executive vice president of Academic Affairs. “Ashford University is proud to support the Salute to Service, and thankful for every man and woman who offers to make the ultimate sacrifice in the name of our country.”

Taking place at one of the region’s most recognizable locations on October 28, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., the Salute will feature live music from Southbound Jonny, a San Diego country band; variety band, Slower; and free food provided by Northgate Market, Souplantation, Pepsi, East Village Tavern & Bowl, Smart Foods, Olive Coast, Slater 50/50 and Jack Daniel’s Barbecue Sauce.

Giveaways and raffle prizes will be awarded throughout the day. Prizes include a Hawaiian vacation courtesy of Alaska Airlines and Kaanapali Resorts & Hotel; football tickets for a Chargers game, the Holiday Bowl and the Poinsettia Bowl, plus tickets to Sea World and Legoland.

Entry to the 2012 Salute to Service is free for anyone with military identification.
