Salute to Service Festival Honors San Diego Members of U.S. Military; Veteran's Day Event Sponsored by Ashford University
3rd Annual celebration will be held on the flight deck of the Navy's historic USS Midway

In recognition of Veteran’s Day, San Diego’s Salute to Service Festival pays a family-friendly tribute to the U.S. military. The fun-filled festival will take place on the deck of the USS Midway overlooking the beautiful San Diego Harbor. Ashford University is proud to sponsor the event for the third year in a row.

“It is a privilege for all of us at Ashford to sponsor the Salute to Service festival. It’s just one way that we have chosen to say ‘thank you’ to our military members for their selfless service to our country,” said Dr. Richard Pattenaude, president and chief executive officer at Ashford University and a Vietnam veteran. “We are a dedicated partner of the military and are committed to educating our nation’s heroes.”

Taking place at one of San Diego’s most prized locations on November 11, from 1-3 p.m., the event will feature live music from Southbound Jonny, a San Diego country band; music by Trevor Davis, a local artist who appeared on NBC’s hit show “The Voice;” and food provided by Jersey Mike’s, Jimbo’s Natural Foods Grocer, Pepsi, and Slater’s 50/50.

Giveaways and raffle prizes will be awarded throughout the day. Prizes include a trip for four to Universal Studios Resort in Orlando, Fla., including airfare, accommodations, and tickets to the park; a Hawaiian vacation for two; a trip to Mexico; plus tickets to Universal Studios Hollywood; and more.

Entry to the 2013 Salute to Service is free for anyone with military identification. The event is open to the general public with regular museum admission.
